New Yorkers invited to join ‘rat pack’ fighting rodents Posted on July 30, 2024 by Connor Johnson Spectrum News 1 July 28, 2024 Mayor Eric Adams invited New Yorkers to join the city’s new volunteer “rat pack” program as part of the latest effort to increase rat mitigation across the five boroughs. Participants will attend a two-hour training session at the city Department of Health’s “rat academy” before being deputized to take action in their own neighborhoods. The mayor’s office says anyone can join the “rat pack,” but the initiative is designed for building superintendents, property managers, community gardeners and business owners. “From cutting out rats’ food supplies to closing down rat havens, rat pack members will be able to defend their communities from rodents and achieve our goal of making New York City the least rat-friendly city in America,” Adams said on Sunday.
